LFI Corbière “does not call for the resignation” of Quatennens, after the accusations of his wife

The vice-president of the LFI group in the National Assembly Alexis Corbière declared on Thursday that he was not asking for the resignation of Adrien Quatennens, accused of domestic violence by his wife, because it is “the voters who must keep control of their elected officials.

“A deputy, I will not call for his resignation, (…) I defend the right to dismiss elected officials, it is the voters who must keep control of their elected officials”, explained the deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, guest of LCI. “I do not want my political movement to live to the rhythm of this marital tear,” continued Alexis Corbière.

The wife of Adrien Quatennens, Céline, on Wednesday made new accusations of “physical and psychological violence” for “several years” on the part of the deputy from the North who “categorically” denied them.

“At this stage, we are looking at the legal agenda (…) and our final position will also evolve accordingly”, assured Alexis Corbière, recalling that “not nothing has happened” within La France insoumise since the revelation of this violence in mid-September. Adrien Quatennens has since been withdrawn from his function as political coordinator of the movement and has not reappeared in the National Assembly.

Quatennens “not able” to perform his duties

Asked about the fact that Adrien Quatennens is no longer on sick leave but does not work, Alexis Corbière felt that he was “not able” to exercise his mandate as a deputy, in particular due to media pressure. “He’s not a guy who is going to eat, who takes his foot lying down, he’s a man who is facing a whole series of difficulties”, justified the deputy.

Asked about the same subject on BFMTV, his colleague Aymeric Caron recalled that in the case of “domestic violence, which are extremely complex intimate questions, it must be professionals who speak”. “Only then, depending on what the professionals have been able to establish as facts (…) it is possible for the members of the group of insubordinate France to judge what it is possible to do”, estimated the LFI deputy from Paris .
