The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, sanctioned MP Ugo Bernalicis (La France insoumise, LFI) on Friday, December 1, with a quarter of his monthly allowance (« 1 476 » euros), after an altercation broke out the day before in the law committee, the presidency announced in a press release. “It will belong to the office of the Assembly”its highest executive body, to rule on a possible “more severe sanction”specifies the text.
Mr. Bernalicis caused a scandal on Thursday evening for forcefully demanding a suspension of work in the Law Committee, so that its members could follow the examination of a text in the hemicycle.
