LG Display has launched mass production of the world's first 24.5-inch gaming OLED panel featuring a 720Hz refresh rate and a 0.02ms response time. The display debuts in Asus's ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace, which is selected as the official esports monitor for the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026 competition.
Display manufacturing technology is pushing past previous boundaries in the competitive gaming sector. South Korea's LG Display announced that it has begun mass production of a specialized 24.5-inch gaming OLED panel built explicitly for the ultra-demanding esports market. By pairing a massive 720Hz refresh rate with a lightning-fast 0.02ms response time, the company aims to accelerate the transition to OLED displays in competitive circles traditionally dominated by liquid crystal displays.
Engineering the World's First 720Hz Esports OLED Panel
The new panel is designed around the 24-inch class screen size, which remains the most widely utilized format in esports because players can view the entire display at a glance without shifting their focus. Beyond its physical dimensions, the screen introduces technical specifications intended to eliminate motion blur and ghosting during rapid gameplay.
Operating at a 720Hz refresh rate means the display redraws the image 720 times per second. To maintain stability at that speed without degrading image quality, LG Display developed a proprietary algorithm spanning both panel design and the hardware driving system at Full HD (1920×1080) resolution. This setup relies on OLED’s inherent self-emissive pixel architecture, where every pixel produces its own light independently of its neighbors, bypassing the backlight requirements of traditional LCD screens.
The visual improvements target fast-paced titles like first-person shooters and racing simulations. In practice, the hardware is engineered to capture subtle high-speed visual cues such as a gun muzzle flash or the swift motion of a vehicle rounding a track.
Commercial Debut and Major Tournament Adoption
The panel’s early commercial viability is already secured through a partnership with Asus. The Asus ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace serves as the first monitor to market utilizing LG Display’s new technology.
The hardware is backed by a three-year burn-in warranty. Its competitive credentials were validated when organizers selected the monitor as the official display for the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026, ranking it among the premier equipment choices in the professional Counter-Strike 2 tournament calendar.

With the 24.5-inch esports launch underway, LG Display is positioning its broader portfolio to capture market share across multiple tiers.
