Kuru expands BSS from 400 to 440 within the year
Establishment of BSS infrastructure outside the metropolitan area next year
Baedal Minjok, support benefits for purchasing electric two-wheeled vehicles
LG Energy Solutions’ in-house independent company ‘KooRoo’ is working with Korea’s leading delivery and logistics companies to create an eco-friendly delivery culture.
LG Energy Solution announced on the 4th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Kuruga Baedal Minjok to create and spread an eco-friendly delivery culture based on electric two-wheeled vehicles. Woowa Brothers, who run Baedal Minjok, and Woowa Youth, who are in charge of Baedal Minjok logistics services, both participated in this MOU.
Kuru is an independent company within LG Energy Solutions that operates a ‘Battery Swapping Station (BSS)’ that allows users to easily exchange discharged batteries of electric two-wheeled vehicles with charged batteries.
Under this agreement, Kuru will promote infrastructure expansion to spread the use of electric two-wheeled vehicles, an eco-friendly delivery method. The plan is to expand the approximately 400 BSS currently installed in the metropolitan area to 440 within the year. Starting next year, we will also begin building infrastructure in areas other than the metropolitan area.
Baedal Minjok plans to provide benefits to riders so that they can purchase electric two-wheeled vehicles compatible with Kuru batteries. We plan to provide discounts when purchasing or renting the electric two-wheeled vehicle. In addition, we are actively promoting eco-friendly delivery policies to Baedal Minjok users and launching campaigns to promote them. Logistics company Woowa Youth plans to actively share the benefits of using electric two-wheeled vehicles and also provide delivery-related data so that Kuru’s BSS can be used efficiently.
Kuru CEO Park Chan-woo said, “We will provide a differentiated customer experience based on LG Energy Solutions’ overwhelming technological prowess,” and added, “We will lead the eco-friendly two-wheeler culture.”
Kim Joong-hyun, head of value management at Woowa Brothers, said, “We hope that this agreement to expand the supply of electric two-wheeled vehicles will become the cornerstone of the expansion of an eco-friendly delivery culture.”
