LG Unveils Artificially Intelligent Two-Legged Wheeled Robot for Smart Homes

Electronics giant LG has announced the launch of a groundbreaking AI-powered robot designed to assist with household tasks and provide companionship to users. The company stated that the robot, which will be showcased at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, is equipped with advanced technologies that enable it to move, learn, understand, and engage in complex conversations.

Described as an “all-in-one home manager and friend,” the white robot features a round body with animated eyes on a built-in screen, as well as two legs with mechanized joints attached to wheels. Its multi-modal technology incorporates voice and visual recognition, natural language processing, as well as the ability to connect and control smart home and IoT devices.

According to LG, the robot can also collect real-time environmental data such as air quality, temperature, and humidity, and use continuous learning through AI to provide users with regular updates about their home. Among its capabilities are the ability to monitor pets or children, act as a house guard, and conserve energy by turning off unnecessary devices around the house.

Additionally, the robot can analyze users’ voices and facial expressions to recognize their emotions, select music based on their mood, provide transportation and weather updates, and set personal reminders.

LG emphasized that the robot is part of its broader smart life solution, aimed at improving users’ daily lives and realizing the vision of a “home without work.”

In a similar vein, Samsung has also announced its plans to launch the 4-door Bespoke Flex refrigerator with AI Family Hub at CES 2024. The refrigerator is equipped with cameras with artificial intelligence, allowing it to identify available ingredients and offer personalized recipes based on the contents stored inside. Samsung claims that the refrigerator can recognize up to 33 different fresh food items and actively monitor the condition of the water filter, alerting users when a replacement is needed.
