LGED, the chief architect of the transformation of rural Bengal: Adviser

He said this at a review meeting on various developmental activities and progress under LGED at the head office of the local government engineering department in Agargaon on Monday (September 9).

Hasan Arif said that it is very important now to deal with the post-flood situation. The recent floods have caused extensive damage to roads. Money has already been allocated. Flood damaged roads should be repaired as soon as possible.

He also said that a group is happy in times of calamity. Natural disasters may create new areas of corruption for these groups. But these cannot be given importance. We have to be careful about this. There is no compromise on the quality of work.

In response to the complaint that the cost of road construction in the country is excessive, the advisor said that the cost of construction of roads in our country is excessive but its durability is low. Such complaints are frequent. Areas of corruption in LGED should be identified. The only goal of the new Bangladesh, which started with the uprising of students, farmers and workers, is to reform the state. Corruption must be eradicated to make these reforms.

Advising LGED to play a supporting role in empowering women, Hasan Arif said that LGED works in remote areas of villages. Women should be included in these village-to-village activities. Besides increasing their employment, secure employment should be developed.

At this time, the chief engineer of the local government engineering department was also present. Ali Akhtar Hossain, Secretary of Local Government Department Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, Additional Secretary Dr. Sher Ali Khan, Md. Nazrul Islam and others.
