by times news cr

This position was expressed in a joint communiqué published following talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti .

In this Joint Communiqué, Ms. Nyanti reiterated her country’s support for the autonomy initiative, presented by the Kingdom in 2007, which constitutes the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution of the dispute around the Moroccan Sahara.

In this sense, she welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as an exclusive framework for achieving a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Welcoming this decision, Mr. Bourita thanked the Liberian side for its constant and firm support for the territorial integrity of Morocco, in particular its clear position in favor of the Moroccan character of the Sahara, which was reinforced by the opening, in March 2020, of a Consulate General of Liberia in Dakhla and the participation of this country, on January 15, 2021, in the Ministerial Conference in support of the autonomy initiative under the sovereignty of Morocco, at the invitation of the Kingdom and of the United States of America.

Furthermore, specifies the Joint Communiqué, Ms. Nyanti underlined the role of the southern provinces of the Kingdom as a major African hub, calling for the experience of these provinces to be made a basis for the development and implementation implementation of a development policy for the whole of Africa.
