The Minister of Education in the Government of National Unity, Musa Al-Magarif, participated in the activities of the third session of the ISESCO Conference of Ministers of Education for the Countries of the Islamic World, which was hosted by the Sultanate of Oman on October 2 and 3, 2024 AD.
The launch of the activities of the first day of the conference witnessed “the presence of the President of the State Council of the Sultanate of Oman, a number of ministers and undersecretaries of the Ministries of Education in countries of the Islamic world, and representatives of a group of regional and international organizations, and civil society institutions.”
In his speech, Al-Magarif extended his thanks and appreciation to the regulatory authorities for the warm reception and the invitation to attend the activities of this conference, and described it as “a platform for identifying the challenges facing educational and pedagogical systems in different regions of the world, as well as exchanging visions and aspirations, and studying Solutions and initiatives to strengthen and enhance the performance of these systems, from a national, regional and international perspective.”
The Minister praised “the sector’s efforts in implementing the recommendations of the 2022 Education Transformation Summit, starting with the establishment and construction of safe, healthy, inclusive and equitable schools for all,” and said that “the Ministry launched the “Schools of the Future” project under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, who aspires to develop the structure of educational institutions in accordance with modern standards. He added that the project aimed, in its first phase, to build 1,500 schools over three years.
In the field of digital transformation of the education sector, Al-Magarif pointed out that “the Ministry has established the foundations, standards and mechanisms for the national project for e-learning and artificial intelligence, in cooperation with the relevant national authorities, and in partnership with regional and international organizations such as UNESCO, ISESCO and ILESCO.”
“Al-Magarif” stated that “the electronic project aims to introduce digitization into all pillars of the educational process: the student, the curriculum, the teacher, and the school and educational structure through the ministry’s specialized centers and departments.”
He noted “the bilateral cooperation with ISESCO in the field of artificial intelligence, by holding meetings and technical working sessions with specialists and experts from both parties, to develop a general vision and practical mechanisms for benefiting from artificial intelligence techniques and sciences in enhancing quality, comprehensiveness, and equity in teaching and learning opportunities for all segments.”
He said, “It is my great hope that the axes, topics and issues on the agenda will achieve the desired ambitions and results, ensuring a comprehensive reform of our educational systems, taking into account transformations in professions and jobs, the environment and climate change, sustainable production and consumption of natural resources, and supporting and developing innovative and creative solutions centered around… The environment and people, and achieving a safe, healthy and inclusive world for all and by all.”
On the sidelines of the ministerial conference, Al-Magariaf held several bilateral meetings with his counterparts in Arab and Islamic countries, in addition to meetings with regional and international organizations, and some leading non-governmental institutions in the field of education, innovation and sustainable development.
