Libyan crisis: Morocco and the UN agree to continue dialogue (UN official)

Rabat – The Kingdom of Morocco and the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) have agreed to continue the dialogue on the political process in Libya, said Monday in Rabat, the acting special representative of the Secretary General of the UN for Libya, Stephanie Khoury.

In a statement to the press following her meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, Ms. Khoury affirmed that “we have agreed to continue the dialogue and to discuss ways to advance the political operation in Libya, under the auspices of the UN, in the service of the Libyan people.”

The UN official stressed that the talks with Mr. Bourita were an opportunity to discuss the difficulties in Libya and the needs of the Libyan people, as well as the importance of progress in the political operation in Libya, noting that These subjects constitute UNSMIL’s priorities.

She further clarified that the working visit she is making to the Kingdom is part of a first tour to countries in the region with a view to examining means likely to resolve the political crisis in Libya. .
