SANTO DOMINGO – The women’s Rama of the Licey Athletic Club has chosen miss María José Armenteros Alsina as its godmother for the 2025-26 season of the Professional Baseball league of the Dominican Republic.
This marks a important moment for the “glorious blue team,” as Armenteros Alsina, born on December 4, 2009, in Santo Domingo, steps into the role. She is the daughter of architect Marcos José Armenteros Sánchez and Mrs. Carla Alsina de Armenteros, and the older sister of Isabella Armenteros Alsina.

The presentation occurred at an intimate gathering at the Forja Restaurant in Santo Domingo. deep.She is the principal granddaughter of Engineer Jaime Manuel Alsina de Castro, a shareholder, former president (2017-2019), and current board member. Her great-grandfather, Engineer Manuel alsina Puello, also served as president of Licey in 1957-1958.
This marks the seventh godmother from the Alsina family, following in the footsteps of her mother Carla Gabriela, grandmother Olga Margarita, and aunts Francina, María Matilde, Montserrat, and María Victoria. She is also the third godmother from the Armenteros family, following Mr. Miguel Guerra Armenteros, Michelle Marie, and Ivette.
Described as a friendly and helpful young woman, María José Armenteros Alsina is known for her integrity and honesty. She enjoys music, reading, cooking, and spending time with friends. During summers, she works as a preschool teacher at liberi.
She is currently a second-year baccalaureate student at st. Michael’s school.Her academic achievements include participation in the school debate team and intercollegiate national tournaments. This week,she received an invitation to join the St. Michael’s Chapter of the Honor Society, an international institution recognizing outstanding students.
“Since I have memory, the values of pride, loyalty and dedication have been fundamental pillars in my home. I grew up listening to my grandfather’s stories, Jaime Manuel Alsina de Castro, who not only lead the tigers, but also infused that same spirit in our whole family,” Armenteros Alsina shared.
As godmother of the 24-time national champions, her objectives include supporting all social action activities, particularly those focused on children and youth, and cheering on the team at every game.
She added, “Licey’s tigers are not just a team; they are an integral part of our lives, a bond that unites the Alsina family and all the Dominican families who love this sport.” She promised to represent these values with all her heart, honoring the past and exalting the future of the club.
The Licey Women’s Rama, chaired by Mrs. Mercedes Elmúdesi de fernández, is unique in the Dominican Republic’s baseball landscape. It is the only team with such a group dedicated to developing social responsibility strategies through programs like “Licey with the community,” “Study Family,” “Licey Summer Camp,” “Children’s Afternoons,” “Licey Blue Planet,” and the “Licey children’s League.”
the branch also champions education and supports children and youth in need through collaborations with institutions such as the Cardenal Sancha de los Alcarrizos Foundation, the Institute of Blind, USAID, and Save The Children.
