More people than ever before in Germany have assets of one billion euros or more. Still, some billionaires lost a lot of money last year.
Germany has more billionaires than ever before – 249 in number. This was the result of an evaluation by “Manager Magazine”. In the previous year the value was 226, in 2001 it was 69.
The richest German is Lidl founder Dieter Schwarz, whose fortune “Manager Magazine” estimates at almost 44 billion euros. According to this calculation, Schwarz increased his assets by more than four billion euros last year.
In second place is the Klatten-Quandt family around the BMW heirs Susanne Klatten and Stefan Quandt. The family lost more than six billion euros last year – mainly due to weak BMW shares – but still stands at 34.4 billion euros.
On the other hand, places three to six have increased slightly. These places are occupied by the Merck family (assets of 33.8 billion euros), the Reimann family (31.3 billion euros), HSV investor Klaus-Michael Kühne (29 billion euros) and the Aldi Süd families Albrecht and Heister (27th). billion euros).
Seventh place has grown significantly: The Henkel family increased its assets by almost ten billion euros last year; Manager Magazine now estimates it at 24.6 billion euros. The Porsche family, on the other hand, lost 4.5 billion euros and is now in eighth place with 19.3 billion euros.
The Aldi Nord Albrecht family is almost unchanged in ninth place with 18.9 billion euros. Tenth-placed Andreas von Bechtolsheim has increased his assets by 8.4 billion euros and now stands at 17.7 billion euros.
Other well-known rich Germans include the von Siemens family (9.8 billion euros, 20th place), the Deichmann family (4.8 billion euros, 43rd place), the Dirk Roßmann family (4.6 billion euros, 50th place) and the Carsten Maschmeyer family (900 million euros, 250th place).
