Hurricane Milton, which made landfall in Florida on Wednesday night as a Category 3 hurricane, left much chaos and destruction in its wake.
One of the most talked about stories that has gone viral is that of Joseph Malinowski, known as “Lieutenant Dan,” who refused to evacuate the area and chose to face the hurricane from his small sailboat in Tampa.
Despite warnings from authorities urging people not to remain on boats due to the imminent danger, “Lieutenant Dan” remained defiant.
Hours before Milton’s arrival, Lieutenant Dan expressed confidence that he would survive.

He compared his situation to that of Noah’s Ark in the Bible, saying: “I’m not worried. This is nothing compared to what I’ve been through in my life. “Noah and the animals survived on the ark, and so will I on my ship.”
Miraculously, his prediction was correct, as the hurricane hit the area where the sailboat was located, but Malinowski managed to survive.
A NewsNation reporter confirmed his condition after the main danger had passed.
Meanwhile, Milton’s passage left devastating consequences in Florida.
Authorities reported that at least 19 tornadoes touched down, destroying more than 125 homes, mostly mobile homes.
Although “Lieutenant Dan’s” story ended with a happy ending, many other Florida residents still face the arduous task of rebuilding what was lost.
Although Hurricane Milton weakened to Category 2 shortly after making landfall, its strength was sufficient to cause significant damage and keep authorities on high alert.
