TRENTO. “The League is trying again. Two years after the center-right regional majority attempted to guarantee regional politicians automatic adjustments of their benefits in the middle of summer, despite the thousands of workers and pensioners hit by inflation and the erosion of purchasing power, today the members of the Carroccio are even trying to reintroduce, under false pretenses, life pensions. An unacceptable privilege that once again demonstrates the League’s distance from real life and from the people it claims to represent”. This was stated in a note by the secretary of the Cgil of Trentino Andrea Grosselliwho takes the floor regarding the “Deferred Indemnity” Bill deposited in the Regional Council by the President Roberto Paccher (Lega).
“While in Rome the Meloni-Salvini government seems intent on further tighten the pension systemgiven that there are rumours of an increase from 20 to 25 years of the minimum contributions to be able to access the old age pension, thanks to a proposed law by a councillor of the Carroccio local politicians could secure a lifetime pension with just 5 years, even non-continuous, of presence in the regional council. In practice, a worker, perhaps precarious, perhaps with gaps in contributions linked to the birth of children, will need 4 or 5 times more years of contributions to retire than a regional councilor, who already today enjoys notional treatments for the crediting of contributions in addition to generous specific payments for supplementary pensions”, continues Grosselli.
“In the meantime, since the elections, there has been no more talk of quota 41 for ordinary mortals, nor of flexibility in exiting for women and vulnerable individuals, the guarantees of full recovery of inflation for pensions have become mirages, but in Trento the League is trying to dust off a privilege for a few, the politicians, the same ones who in Rome are not able to manage the social security of workers raising alarms about the demographic stability of the pension system. But this does not apply to them. We therefore ask that the Regional Council and its majority disown this bill and that instead they guarantee the full implementation of the cancellation of life pensions wanted by the center-left with the recovery of all resources not duly received by former councilors”, concludes the secretary of the Cgil of Trentino.
