A 100-year-old Holocaust survivor with the help of ZAKA from the heart of the fighting in Kiev in a complex operation that included a 14-hour ambulance ride until she arrived safely at the Magen David Adom clinic and Ichilov Hospital established at the request of the Jewish community in Chisinau, Moldova.
At the end of the complex rescue campaign, the Holocaust survivor was transferred for examination and medical treatment by the staffs of the Magen David Adom delegation and Ichilov Hospital in Kishinev. The delegation also took care of housing the Holocaust survivor in the same hostel where they are staying in order to accompany her, take care of her health, host her for company and stay with her – until she immigrated to Israel.
Magen David Adom paramedic Haim Levin and Dr. Rim Albassel from Ichilov Hospital who went on a delegation to Moldova said:
“After finding herself in the real danger of life in the last month and at the end of a long and complex journey that the Holocaust survivor went through We were excited Very much to meet her and receive her to us in a hug. We conducted a comprehensive set of tests to make sure that her physical condition was good and we took care of her living in the delegation’s hostel – in order to keep a close eye on her and host her company until she immigrated to Israel. “We talked to her and heard from her about her personal story during the Holocaust and her complex journey, we saw the calmness on her face when she saw the symbols of the Star of David Adom on our clothes and realized that she is finally, after a month of fighting, in a safe place.”
