Life sentence for 3 people in youth murder case- Dinamani

A Coimbatore court on Friday sentenced three people to life imprisonment in the case of killing a youth in a clash during a kabaddi game.

Sondhav Naveen Kumar (23) lives in Puliyakulam Ammankulam New Housing Unit, Coimbatore. Ivan brought his friend Lokeswaran (23) to play in his team in the Pongal festival kabaddi tournament held on January 16, 2020 in the area. Naveen Kumar’s team won the match.

In this case, Naveen Kumar and Lokeswaran were sitting and talking that night. At that time, Vijayakumar (25), Kannan (23) and Hariharan (23) who came there got into a dispute with Naveen Kumar saying that he had brought a foreigner and made him play.

Enraged, the trio stabbed Naveen Kumar and Lokeswaran. Naveen Kumar was seriously injured and died. Ramanathapuram police registered a case in this regard and arrested Vijayakumar, Kannan and Hariharan.

The trial of the case was being conducted in the Coimbatore Bomb Blast Court. Judge D. Balu, who heard the case, sentenced the accused Vijayakumar, Kannan and Hariharan to life imprisonment, a fine of Rs 3,500 each and 10 years imprisonment in another category. Prosecutor K. Karthikeyan appeared for the government in this case.
