It has been warned that people will have to adapt to a lifestyle where electricity is cut off for several hours every day.
Power Minister Kanchana Wijesekara mentioned this matter.

He pointed out that the lease for new coal supply to Sri Lanka has been awarded to an Indonesian company after getting recommendations from the President.
3 lakh metric tonnes of coal
A further 12 coal barges are planned to be brought into the country through a different system after earlier bids to bring coal were rejected.
Kanchana said that 3 lakh metric tons of coal has been brought to Sri Lanka through 3 coal ships. It is noteworthy that he has also informed that he is preparing to bring 28 more coal ships.
