MG Offers ‘Eternal’ Coverage for MG4 and Cyberster in Thailand
MG surprised everyone with the announcement that it will offer “eternal” coverage for two of its most popular electric cars: the MG4 and Cyberster. This guarantee, coming from MG’s parent company SAIC Motors, will also extend to two other Maxus models, the 7 and 9, which are not sold in Europe.
With this bold move, MG hopes to boost the visibility of its electric cars and reassure potential buyers about their safety and reliability. However, this guarantee is currently limited to Thailand, one of MG’s most successful markets. The question remains: will this offer ever reach Europe?
While most electric car brands offer limited guarantees on their vehicles and batteries, MG takes a different approach. Instead of specifying kilometers or years, MG provides unlimited coverage for both the vehicle and its battery.
This unprecedented guarantee is retroactive, meaning that anyone who already owns an MG4 or Cyberster is also eligible for this lifelong coverage, regardless of their mileage or registration date.
MG’s success in Thailand is undeniable. In 2024, MG4 sales increased by 84% compared to the previous year, while the Cyberster, with its high price tag, already has over 1,000 reservations in the eastern country.
The MG and Maxus batteries are also covered for life. But why did MG introduce this groundbreaking guarantee?
MG celebrates its 100th anniversary and its 10th anniversary in Thailand with this exceptional offer. It also serves as a tribute to the Thai plant in Chonburi, where MG and Maxus vehicles are assembled.
While the “eternal” guarantee is unlikely to reach Europe, MG offers a standard 7-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty in Spain.
