The former coach of the Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, Jorge Fossati, in an interview for Area Deportiva radio, referred to the match that the albos will have against Defensa y Justicia in the semifinals of Conmebol Sudamericana.
“Liga was a candidate again and it is a joy, and I hope I surpass Defensa y Justicia. If you chose the others who could remain as rivals, each one has a story. The meetings are lived with tension, if you don’t feel ‘tingling’ you don’t feel the responsibility,” he said.
“The League has a coach with experience in his own country, I faced him, so he is an international coach. I understand that Luis Zubeldía stopped playing due to an injury, which is why he became coach at a very young age. Before he reacted stronger, now I see that he handles himself better,” he said.
“Liga is not the League from before 2003, 2004 and 2006. Liga de Quito is a team with history, and that is what makes it stand firmly. The history is there for a reason, therefore, the other teams must respect it,” said the coach.
