With the results of matchday 12, the fight to win the first stage seems to be between three clubs from the capital.
Independiente del Valle, Aucas and Liga de Quito are the main candidates to win the prizes awarded to the winner of phase 1 (ticket to the final and qualification for the 2025 Libertadores). With their victory over El Nacional, the team from Valle took the lead in phase 1 with 28 points after twelve rounds played.
With their draws against the clubs from “Astillero”, Aucas and Liga de Quito, they lost ground in their objective of winning the stage, although in the case of LDU they have a pending match with Barcelona (matchday 4) that they are obliged to win.
Six points behind the leader, Barcelona could return to the fight if they win their remaining matches, including the pending match against Liga that will be played on May 22 at the Monumental.
With three dates left to play, there is no clear favourite to take first place in phase 1, although the outlook could clear up next weekend (matchday 13), especially after the matches between IDV vs LDU and Aucas vs U. Católica.
