Thiruvananthapuram: The orange alert has been withdrawn in all the districts as the heavy rains in the state have eased slightly. Yellow alert has been issued in all the districts due to the possibility of heavy rains. No orange vigil has been declared in any district tomorrow. However, the Central Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to go fishing off the coast of Kerala until further notice as heavy rains are likely.

Fishing is not allowed off the coast of Kerala until further notice

19-05-2022 to 20-05-2022: The Central Meteorological Department has forecast strong winds of 40-50 kmph and in some places 60 kmph along the Kerala-Lakshadweep-Karnataka coast. You should not go fishing in these places.
Special caution instructions
19-05-2022 to 20-05-2022: Strong winds at 40-50 kmph and in some places at times along the Kerala coast and adjoining southern Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari coasts.
21-05-2022: Extreme winds of 40 to 50 kmph and in some places at 60 kmph in the Middle East Arabian Sea.
22-05-2022: Strong winds at 40-50 kmph and in some places at 60 kmph along the eastern Arabian Sea, North Karnataka coast and South Konkan coast.
Fishing is not allowed in the above areas and dates.

Fishermen and coastal residents remain vigilant.
1. Stay away from dangerous areas as per the instructions of the authorities as there is a possibility of severe sea swell.
2. Secure fishing vessels (boats, canoes, etc.) in the harbor. Maintaining a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
3. Completely avoid trips to the beach and recreational activities at sea.
Secure fishing gear. Fishermen are not allowed to go fishing off the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep till the end of the fishing ban.
