CHENNAI- A scheme to sell 2 kg and 5 kg cooking gas cylinders in co-operative shops will be launched the day after tomorrow at the Tiruvallikeni Nagar Co-operative Society shop in Chennai.
Public sector Indian Oil Company for houses, 14.20 kg; They also sell cooking gas cylinders of 19 kg for commercial use. For household cylinders, central government provides subsidy. So, address proof is necessary to get that cylinder connection. Migrants due to education and work are finding it difficult to get cooking cylinder connection due to lack of address proof. For their convenience, 2 kg in the name of ‘Munna’; Lighter cooking gas cylinders of 5 kg are also sold under the name ‘Chotu’.
Anyone can buy them by showing a photo ID card at gas agencies. It has been decided to sell light weight cooking cylinders in ration shops and supermarkets run by the cooperative sector.
Accordingly, the plan to sell these cylinders will be launched on the 6th of the coming 6th at the Tiruvallikeni City Co-operative Society’s Kamadenu Supermarket, known as DUCS, in Tiruvallikeni, Chennai. Following this, cylinder sales will be expanded in ration shops and supermarkets at important locations across the state.
