Candidates for European places have been treading water this Sunday. The afternoon had however started well for Stade Rennais. At home, the Bretons were already leading 2-0 with a score of success – and the first Red and Black goal of Ludovic Blas – after 25 minutes of play against Le Havre. Despite the expulsion of Le Havre Samuel Grandsir, a brace from the hyperactive Nabil Alioui allowed the promoted player to grab the draw and slow down Rennes.

The latter were for a time virtually the leader of the championship. They will only be sixth, except for a Nice demonstration against Lyon this evening (8:45 p.m.), with 5 points in three days. The other promoted also shone. FC Metz went to win in Clermont (1-0), thanks to the talented Georges Mikautadze, to score the first success of their season and leave the Auvergnats in 18th and last place.

But the surprise of the day may have taken place in Lorient. The Merlus have largely dominated Lille, far too fragile defensively (4-1).

After Laurent Abergel (9th) opened the scoring, Julien Ponceau (11th) quickly broke Losc. Jonathan David (56th) reduced the gap, but Romain Faivre signaled himself with a sublime stung ball to reassure the Stade du Moustoir (62nd). Vincent Le Goff finished the job (68th), lowering the Northerners to 10th position, while the FCL stole the 7th seat in Ligue 1 from them.

At the end of the Multiplex, the Stade de Reims propelled itself to the podium, projected by its rookie Teddy Teuma, author of a double, in Montpellier (3-1). The Rémois have 6 points, just like Strasbourg, winner of Toulouse (2-0). Emanuel Emegha and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde allowed the Alsatians to climb to 5th position in the standings.
