In the second half, the balance of power changed. Minimalist Strasbourg became more enterprising while Marseille ran out of ideas. Without clear opportunities, the Phocaeans were forced to endure several Alsatian offensives. Kevin Gameiro (53rd) and Dilane Bakwa (71st) had the opportunity to score, but Pau Lopez and the crossbar offered a reprieve to the Phocaeans. The two teams parted in a draw.
Marseille will have to show a better face on Thursday in the Europa League against Ajax. A victory could bring the Marseillais closer to the round of 16. In the meantime, OM is stuck in 9th place in Ligue 1, Strasbourg is 12th.
