by time news

Former Lyon centre-forward, Brazilian Sonny Anderson, has been appointed OL sports adviser, a position that has not existed since the death of Gérard Houllier (December 2020), successor to Bernard Lacombe who retired .

The 52-year-old Anderson played for Olympique Lyonnais between 1999 and 2003, contributing to their Coupe de la Ligue victory (2001) and the first two of seven French league titles (2002, 2003).

Sonny Anderson, who was also coach of the Lyon attackers (2007-2011), was recently a TV consultant on BeInSport but also a sports advisor to Lyon-La Duchère (N2), a partner club of OL.

The Brazilian had started his playing career in Brazil before revealing himself in Europe at Servette Geneva (1992-1993), then in Marseille (1993-1994), Monaco (1994-1997) and Barcelona (1997-1999). Lyon had then recruited him for 120 million francs at the time (18 M€).

He then finished his career at Villarreal in Spain (2003-2004) then Al Rayyan (2004-2005) and Al Gharaffa in Qatar (2005-2006).
