It was expected, it’s now official. The Ligue 1 meeting which was to be held between Brest and Strasbourg on Sunday November 12 was “postponed to a later date”, “due to the damage caused by storm Ciaran” at the Francis-Le Blé stadium, announced the Ligue de professional football (LFP) Monday.

“Due to the damage caused by storm Ciaran” which passed through Finistère on the night of November 1st to 2nd, “the Stade Brestois 29 – RC Strasbourg Alsace meeting, counting for the 12th day of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and initially scheduled for Sunday November 12 at 1:00 p.m., is postponed to a later date,” explains the body in a press release. No new date has yet been announced for the meeting.

On Friday, the Breton club had already indicated that this match could not take place in its stadium, without specifying whether it could take place in another venue in the region or if this would force the LFP to postpone it.

“The roof of the Charles de Foucauld stand was hit in several places. Other damage was also noted within the stadium,” reported Stade Brestois, which also indicated the postponement to a later date of the Ligue 2 meeting between US Concarneau and Pau FC, scheduled for Saturday November 4 at Francis-Le Blé stadium.

Ciaran left at least three dead and 47 injured, and 126,000 homes remained without electricity on Monday after another storm, Domingos, passed over the western coast this weekend, which left at least eight injured.
