As we announced a fortnight ago, Stéphane Gilli is indeed the new coach of Paris FC. The club, which has just finished 7th in Ligue 2, formalized its arrival on Saturday Paris FC waited for the Ligue 2 championship to end to reveal the identity of Thierry Laurey’s successor, not retained after two very contrasting seasons. But the file had been finalized for several days already. President Pierre Ferracci had also confirmed his visit to the players in the locker room after the match against Annecy (1-0) on Friday evening. Stéphane Gilli, 49, who signed for two years, has already started working and has taken part in several meetings.

It will therefore be, at 49, his first experience as number 1. But he was the assistant of Mécha Bazdarevic for sixteen years with whom he notably worked at Paris FC (2018-2020). His passage had been appreciated. He had since remained in contact with management and several people at Paris FC. He has just passed his BEPF, essential to train with the pros after having been Vahid Halilhodzic’s assistant in the Moroccan selection. Beyond the sporting aspect, the arrival of Gilli, which is unanimous internally and among supporters, should bring serenity after the very tough management of Laurey.

Sporting director Frédéric Hébert will leave

At Paris FC, he will find several staff members with whom he has already worked, Armand Sene (assistant), Mickaël Boully (goalkeeping coach), Christophe Manouvrier (physical trainer) and Romain Peyrusqué (recruiter). But he should only come across sports director Frédéric Hébert, who participated in his visit. Hébert, who arrived in January 2020, will indeed leave the club in the coming weeks. In addition to the staff, there will therefore also be changes in the organization chart. A new era will begin at Paris FC.
