Laurent Batlles was dismissed from his post as coach of AS Saint-Etienne, we learned Wednesday morning from the Saint-Etienne club, after the fifth consecutive defeat in Ligue 2 conceded this Tuesday evening at home against Guingamp (3 -1).

Laurent Huard, director of the training center, will take over in the interim, pending the appointment of a new coach.

Laurent Batlles, 48, succeeded Pascal Dupraz in June 2022, a few weeks after the relegation of ASSE to L2.

This season, after two inaugural defeats, the Greens went on a series of ten matches without defeat which for a time lifted them to 2nd place in the ranking. But the Saint-Etienne club has just posted five defeats in a row, including three at home, the last on Tuesday evening against Guingamp (day 17).

With Batlles, Saint-Etienne played 57 matches for a record of 23 wins, 14 draws and 20 defeats.

The Greens will face Nîmes (National) on Saturday in the 8th round of the Coupe de France, before traveling on December 16 in the championship to Bordeaux, another historic French football club suffering in Ligue 2 (17th).
