Leaders of the Ultras Lutetia descend on the Charléty track to mingle with the players. Then Yoan Koré grabs the microphone. In a joyful melee, they all sing together to celebrate Paris FC’s great victory against Annecy (2-1). The Parisian team warmed up the Charléty stadium where 4,505 brave people came to brave the cold. They must not have regretted it after this performance by the PFC despite the difficult conditions and a very deteriorated pitch in places. The lawn was however redone in hybrid this summer…
“Despite the state of the pitch, we continue to play,” underlines Stéphane Gilli, the Parisian coach. After our qualification for the Coupe de France, the year 2024 is off to a good start. I am very proud of my players and what they have done. We had a very coherent match even if Annecy surprised us at the start. But we exuded strength and maturity. »
Lukembila-Gory, duo gagnant
The three center forwards (Hamel, Diaby Fadiga, Touré) who were added to the long list of injured and a bench with four young people from the reserve compiling between them, three appearances in L2… We almost thought we were back in the month of August. But fortunately Paris FC was able to count on attackers in good shape.
In the first leg, on September 30, Josuas Lukembila and Alimami Gory sparked a revolt by allowing their team to come back from 2-0 to 2-2. Lukembila, decisive double passer for Gory, author of a double (51st and 76th): the two arrows of the attack once again proved decisive. Alimami Gory brought his total to 5 goals (for 5 assists). A lovely gift for his son’s birthday.
And with the Moroccan Ayoub Jabbari, the Parisian club has made a great find. Arriving to play with the reserve (R1) after Caen (L2) and Avranches (National) where he hardly played, then a move to the 4th Spanish division, the 23-year-old striker, 1.93 m tall, is more what to help out at the forefront… Scorer in the Coupe de France last week in Alès (2-1), he was very useful in his movements and his discounts against Annecy.
“Facing a five-man defense with little space, it wasn’t easy but the offensive players performed very well,” says Stéphane Gilli. Ali (Gory) had a big match, he scored twice and could have had one or two more assists. I’m happy for him. Josuas (Lukembila) was also very interesting. Ayoub (Jabbari) is still raw but he has great potential. He seized his chance and was very interesting for our game project in fixing points and in his stalls, like Pythou (Hamel). »
23 points out of 30 possible in the last ten matches
Now “challenged” by the experienced Rémy Riou in goal, Obed Nkambadio had to bow while his team led 2-0 (80th). But his double save at the start of the match (24th) allowed Paris FC not to fall behind. Overall, especially in the second half, the Parisians were solid. Undefeated for 5 games (4 wins, 1 draw), author of a good series of 23 points out of 30, Paris FC, 8th, is only one point from the Top 5.
“I told the players in the locker room that we should not focus on the ranking,” concludes Stéphane Gilli. We know where we’re coming from, so we don’t get carried away. But this group deserved to have results, they never gave up and always remained attentive. If we continue to perform well and progress, the rest will come by itself…”
Next week, Paris FC should be able to count on a new recruit, Rennes right-back Guéla Doué (21 years old). While the two clubs have agreed on the terms of his loan (with purchase option) for several days, Rennes wanted to retain him again this week because of Lorenz Assignon’s injury. Doué started this Saturday evening against Nice (2-0). But this setback does not compromise his arrival in Paris.
