What caused the crash? The circumstances surrounding the collision on the N24 are currently under investigation. Gardaí are working to piece together events leading up to the incident and identify the driver who left the scene.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m. on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co. Limerick, on Friday, according to authorities. The sole female occupant of one of the cars was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. Her remains were transported to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a postmortem examination will be conducted. The coroner has been notified.

The driver of a second vehicle, a man in his 40s, was transported to the same hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

“Investigating gardaí are seeking to identify the driver of the third car. That driver fled, leaving the vehicle they were driving at the scene,” gardaí stated in a release issued Saturday.

The N24 between the R505 and L1132 junctions remained closed Saturday morning to allow for a forensic examination of the crash site. Diversions were in effect for motorists.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage from the area between 10:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Friday to come forward.
