CHENNAI: Applications related to 11,000 unauthorized plots are pending in the city, development department DTCP, and local bodies for quota orders.

In the scheme for demarcation of unauthorized plots, applications are to be submitted through ‘online’ mode, for which DTCP officials will give first stage approval. Then, these applications will go to the concerned local bodies. There, a complete map of the plot should be filed. Based on that, the development fee will be collected and the final order of delimitation will be issued.

Complaints have been raised that the files sent to the local bodies have been frozen for bribe collection. 5.87 lakh applications were received for land allotment in DTCP areas. Out of this, 11,000 applications are pending for the final approval of the local bodies. The local authorities are forcing them to prepare and submit a map through their engineer. If they refuse to accept, the applications are shelved. Due to this, there is a situation where the applications of the people who pay fair fees are being blocked by the authorities.
