Udo Lindenberg has been in the music business for more than 50 years, but only now – and with the rapper Apache 207, who is 50 years his junior – has he managed a number one hit in Germany.

Panic rocker meets German rapper: Udo Lindenberg (76) and Apache 207 (25, “Roller”) recorded a song together for the first time – “Komet” is the name of the song. “Our comet is a song about immortality, about the footprint we leave behind,” Lindenberg said, according to a statement from Warner Music the cloak around the dance feeling.”
Lindenberg said he visited Apache 207 at a concert and was thrilled. “Apache caught my eye right away because it’s very different from normal gangsta rap. Cool, clever boy, very flashed lyrics, trademark voice – and also sings super-smoothly.”
The Mannheim-born Apache 207 rose to fame with his 2019 hit “Roller”. His first record “Treppenhaus” made it to number one in the charts. Millions of his songs are streamed online. Musically, Apache 207 plays with different genres and moves somewhere between rap, R&B, pop, disco and zeitgeist.
A legend, a role model
According to the announcement, Apache 207 itself describes the cooperation as “acclaiming”. “Udo Lindenberg is undoubtedly a legend of German music and a great role model for me – especially when it comes to his incredible career.”
After mutual visits, the men put their heads together and wrote “Komet”. “We quickly found out – the votes fit a thousand per. And then the song just flew to us,” remembered Lindenberg. With the song, the two music stars also want to make a statement about the connections between two generations and musical styles.
The collaboration had been enthusiastically awaited on social networks after the two artists had posted photos from and in front of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg this week with advance notices of something “very special”.
