Richard Rogler made a name for himself as a cabaret artist and also played in the successful series “Lindenstraße”. He has now died at the age of 74.

Mourning for Richard Rogler. Born in Franconia, he started his career in the 1970s and made a name for himself as a cabaret artist. Through appearances in the TV formats “Scheibenwischer” and “Mitternachtsspitzen” he became known to a wide audience and was celebrated by his fans for his politically critical humor. He has now died at the age of 74.

This was reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk, among others, citing Rogler’s PR agency. The “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” also cites an obituary from his family. It states that Rogler understood like no other “how to weave drama and cabaret, great world theater and cabaret, political current affairs and human depths into a completely new form with unbridled energy, acting skills, holy anger and deep love for his characters.”

At the beginning of his career, Rogler was a member of the children’s and youth theater group Ömmes & Oimel, later appearing with his colleague Heinrich Pachl in the cabaret duo Der Wahre Anton, before moving to ARD for the format “Scheibenwischer” and to WDR for the “Mitternachtsspitzen”.

Rogler has received numerous awards for his work. He received the German Cabaret Prize, the Adolf Grimme Prize and the Bavarian Cabaret Prize. He was an honorary professor for cabaret at the University of the Arts in Berlin and also worked as an actor. He played the fraudulent broker Panowski in the series “Lindenstraße”.
