The mayor of Soyapango, Jaime Lindo, made official this morning that he will not seek reelection as councilor of that municipality due to personal and professional projects.
However, he highlighted that during his administration they have invested in the recovery of parks and green areas, repaired more than 90 municipal streets, the installation of more than 9 thousand lights, strengthening sports and the construction of the Municipal Cemetery, a work that will be ready by end of this year.
He emphasized that the ARENA party is not removing him from office but that it has been its own decision. Lindo arrived in the municipality of Soyapango under the flag of the tricolor party in the 2012 elections, conquering one of the FMLN’s stronghold cities.
“After meditating with God and my family, I have made the decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming elections. My profession, which I love and long for and have practiced for more than 20 years, and other professional projects make me give up the opportunity to another nationalist at heart,” said the mayor, in a statement addressed to the residents of Soyapango.
The mayor proposed two people who could be considered by the ARENA leadership for a pre-candidacy for mayor. They are Marlon Manzano (former director of Un Techo para mi País) and Rodrigo Godínez (member of the labor sector).
ARENA has scheduled the internal election for August 24 to validate its mayoral candidates. Today ARENA began the registration process for the ten municipalities where they still do not have candidates for mayor, including Mejicanos and Quezaltepeque.
