The former ski racer Lindsey Vonn is going through a turbulent time.

Recently, the 39-year-old returned from the Olympics in Paris and hosted a fundraising gala for the nonprofit “Lindsey Vonn Foundation” in Utah. Now, she reports via Instagram that her loyal companion, her dog Leo, has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
After returning from Paris, Vonn discovered some suspicious lumps on Leo’s neck and immediately took him to the veterinarian. There, she received the devastating news: Leo has lymphoma, a form of cancer that attacks the immune system.
Emotional statement from the ski icon
In her emotional Instagram post, Vonn opens her heart: “Leo is already undergoing chemotherapy and is responding well.” Despite the treatment, Leo is often tired, but his zest for life seems unbroken. “He doesn’t know what’s happening, but he is still a happy boy,” the 39-year-old says.

For Vonn, who has had Leo by her side for eleven years, the thought of having to live without him is almost unbearable. “Leo is my first dog, and I can’t imagine life without him,” she admits. She has resolved to enjoy every remaining minute with him and to support him as best as she can in the coming months. In the past, the ski icon has confessed how close her three four-legged friends are to her.
During this difficult time, Vonn wants her fans to know that she may not always shine as usual. “If I’m a bit off… now you know why,” she added to her post, showing that even a world champion like her struggles with the emotional challenges of life.
