MADRID, 21 (EUROPA PRESS)

The president of Línea Directa, Patricia Ayuela, has assured that the ‘anti-squatting’ insurance announced last week is having a “enormous acceptance” among its clients and has defended the need for this coverage associated with home insurance.

In his speech at the XL Seminar of the Association of Economic Information Journalists (APIE), which is being held this week in Santander, he recalled that in Spain there are around 16,000 complaints for ‘illegal squatting’, a figure that coincides with the 17,000 fires in homes that occur on average per year. “And no one considers that fire insurance is necessary,” Ayuela has defended.

It has also highlighted that it is the “first insurance to be launched with comprehensive coverage against squatting” that offers legal assistance for the property recovery process and compensation to the insured for the economic costs that the temporary loss of the home may entail, for a fixed price of ten euros per year, in addition to the price of home insurance.

All the services included in this ‘anti-squatting’ coverage add up to 33,900 euros, an amount that can be raised if the client chooses to carry out the rehabilitation of the house through the network of repairers of the insurer itself.

Asked about the company’s evolution on the stock market, Ayuela stressed that it is being “penalized” for its revenue structure, coming mostly from the ‘auto’ business.

However, he has indicated that the insurer is executing a “well-drawn” plan since 2022 with the aim of recovering the company’s insurance margin, as well as efficiency, including individualized price adjustments. “I am absolutely sure” that this plan that the company has in place “will bear fruit.”
