Jair Bolsonaro in Goiania

Jair Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), former president of Brazil, was named a citizen of Goiás in a ceremony held in the city of Goiânia on Friday night (18). During his address to the audience, Bolsonaro shared details of his stay in the United States, where he spent three months, emphasizing his return to Brazil despite the possible risks.

“I was in the United States for three months, in the state of Florida, a really fantastic state. But despite having been welcomed very well, there is no land like ours. I know the risks I run on Brazilian soil, but we cannot give in”, he declared.

The speech also addressed the ongoing investigations conducted by the Federal Police and the Federal Supreme Court involving people close to him. These investigations focus on an illegal sale of gifts that were received by Bolsonaro during his term, raising suspicions about the possible destination of the financial resources from these sales.

One of the names implicated in the investigations is Mauro Cid, who previously served as the former president’s assistant. Cid’s lawyer announced that his client was prepared to make a confession before the Federal Police. In this confession, the lieutenant colonel alleged that the sale of the jewels took place under Bolsonaro’s direct orders.

On the same day that Bolsonaro received the honor in Goiânia, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, issued a determination for the breach of banking and tax secrecy both of the reserve captain and his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro.

Bolsonaro’s defense claims that he did not receive money from the sale of the Rolex.
