Linkin Park Sparks Speculation with 100-Hour Countdown: Is a New Vocalist on the Horizon?

by time news

The band Linkin Park sparked speculation by launching a 100-hour countdown on their social media

The band Linkin Park started a 100-hour countdown on their social media last Saturday, August 24. The clock is almost running out, and fans are curious to see what is coming next. The countdown, also available on the band’s official website, ends on Wednesday, August 28.

Since the countdown began, many fans believe that Linkin Park might announce a new vocalist to replace Chester Bennington, who passed away in 2017. This rumor started circulating earlier this year when sources close to the band suggested they were looking for a female singer to lead the group in a possible return in 2025.

Additionally, according to NME, speculation increased after Sum 41 used their social media to announce a “Deryck Whibley announcement” for the morning of Wednesday, August 28. As both bands share a similar fan base and are part of the 2000s rock scene, this coincidence generated even more rumors.

Later, Deryck from SUM 41 put an end to the rumors. He confirmed on his social media that he is not the new member of Linkin Park and that his announcement tomorrow (which will now move to the weekend) is about his new tour and book, as seen:

I feel the need to dispel some current rumors. It has come to my attention that many people think I might be joining a band that is reuniting. But I just want to say, despite popular belief, I am not joining Oasis… or Linkin Park. Or any other band, to be honest.

I have my own ‘tour and book’ announcement that I will now move to the end of the week, before our tour in the US.

I am looking forward to seeing what these amazing bands will do in the future.”

Mike Shinoda, one of the members of Linkin Park, asked fans for patience and stated that any news will be officially announced on the band’s website. Meanwhile, the rumor about a new vocalist gained traction when Jay Gordon from the band Orgy mentioned that he had heard about a potential new female member. However, Gordon later clarified that he had no concrete information and that his words were misinterpreted.
