Lisa Marie Presley’s January death ruled as being from natural causes due to small bowel obstruction
The death of Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of legendary musician Elvis Presley, at the age of 54 in January has been ruled as being from natural causes. According to authorities, the cause of death was complications from bariatric surgery Presley had undergone several years ago.
An autopsy report released by the Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s office revealed that the small bowel obstruction was the primary factor contributing to Presley’s death. This complication is a common occurrence in bariatric surgery, a weight loss procedure often done when other methods have failed or in the presence of serious medical conditions.
Presley had been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital by paramedics who responded to a 911 call reporting a woman in cardiac arrest at her home. At the time, it was unclear what had caused the medical emergency. However, the autopsy report stated that she had been experiencing stomach pain earlier in the day.
On January 22nd, Presley was laid to rest at Graceland, the iconic home where she had lived with her father as a child. The funeral was attended by family, friends, and fans who gathered to pay their respects at the museum and shrine that Graceland has become.
Lisa Marie Presley leaves behind three daughters: 34-year-old actor Riley Keough and 15-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood. Tragically, her son, Benjamin Keough, passed away in 2020.

Just four days after the funeral, her mother, Priscilla Presley, contested a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie Presley’s living trust that excluded Priscilla and a former business manager as trustees. Despite the personal turmoil, Riley Keough, Lisa Marie Presley’s eldest daughter, received a nomination for her first Emmy on Wednesday. She was recognized in the category of best actress in a limited series or TV movie for her role in Daisy Jones & the Six.
