The book “In search of the unicorn” (Ediciones Unión, 2015) by Graziella Pogolotti, PhD in Philological Sciences, is available to the public at the library of the national headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, located at calle 17 esquina H, Vedado, Havana.

Collected in sixty-five chronicles, the outstanding intellectual provides lessons through pedagogy to learn the greatness of history and the arts, and not cease in the tireless search for the good of all.

This compendium mixes in its pages the anecdotal, the biographical and the literary references of Pogolotti, who for more than forty years worked as a professor at the University of Havana.

Las crónicas—originally published in the Sunday edition of the newspaper rebel youthbetween 2006 and 2015— cover topics such as art, education, national identity and the confluence of generations.

At 91 years of age, the author (Paris, France, 1932) maintains that vocation and pedagogical spirit that she knows how to transmit from a vast experience that has its foundations in the daily exercise of artistic creation.

Graciela Pogolotti treasures an abundant literary work as an art and literature critic and prestigious essayist. Among them are “The path of the teachers” (1976), “The job of reading” (1989), “Experience of criticism” (2003), “Alejo, the critical eye” (2007) and “Dinosauria I am” ( 2012).

She is a Member of the Cuban Academy of Language and Consulting Professor, with which she has contributed to the knowledge of painting, architecture, theater and literature.

In 2005 she was awarded the National Prize for Literature and the National Prize for Artistic Education.
