Lithuania: crowdfunding for the purchase of suicide drones for Ukraine

by time news

Lithuania’s Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas said his country will use funds raised in a crowdfunding campaign to buy 37 Warmate UAVs for the Ukrainian military.

“Part of the funds collected by Legion Of Boom, about one million euros, will be transferred to the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania and will be used to purchase 37 kamikaze UAVs from Poland and then be sent to Ukraine. Thanks to everyone who donated!” said Arvydas Anušauskas.

Ukraine’s deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, said last month that Polish-made drones are a “powerful support” for forces defending his country against Russian attacks on the front line.

Ukrainian officials have repeatedly praised the performance of Polish unmanned aerial vehicles in the war against Russia, according to Polish news outlets.

Warmate is a small unmanned system, with a central wing and a V-tail, weighing, at most, a little less than five kg. The aircraft has a top speed of just over 90 miles per hour and can stay in flight for about 70 minutes on average.

The design of the system allows its installation on vehicles (cars, APCs) and integration of the ground control station and the ground data terminal with the vehicle systems.

The Warmmate is a good alternative to anti-tank guided missiles with its ability to operate at a significantly larger radius, which allows convenient identification and observation of the potential target over a relatively long period of time.
