Several Lithuanian citizens are now detained or in prison in Belarus, Delfi reports. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country, some of them may be illegally held in captivity.
“Currently we have information about several Lithuanian citizens detained and serving sentences in Belarus. Belarusian departments do not always immediately inform about the detention of our citizens,” the department said in a statement.
The exact number of such people was not named, but the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry noted that in 2023 they have already been informed three times about “intense hostile and provocative actions of Belarusian services” against Lithuanian citizens who live on the territory of Belarus or are temporarily traveling there.
The department once again asked its citizens to refrain from visiting Belarus.
