Swimmers Edgaras Matakas and Gabrielė Čepavičiūtė and athlete Donatas Dundzys were the first to settle in the village located in the Saint-Denis district of Paris. Athletes are accompanied here by their coaches and other staff – masseur, team doctor, team manager. The three apartments, where the members of the Lithuanian delegation settled in one and several rooms, have already been decorated with Lithuanian Tricolors and flags with Vyčius.

“On Monday evening, the athletes who arrived in Paris settled in the village, while the shooter Raimeda Bučinskytė went to Šatoru, a four-hour drive away. The shooting range of the Paralympic Games will be held in the shooting range there, and the representatives of this sport will live there.

Living conditions in the village are really good enough, we are neighbors with Latvians and Estonians – we live in the same building. On Tuesday, the athletes already tested the training bases, and on Wednesday the games will be officially opened, the starts will begin,” said Asta Narmontė, head of the Lithuanian Paralympic mission.

Paralympic Games debutante G. Čepavičiūtė did not hide that she was impressed by the village and the atmosphere of the Games. The swimmer already had time to hold her first training session at the La Defense arena.

“First impressions are amazing. The village and the number of people in it left a great impression. It’s a lot of fun. Everything here is great. The food is great and the staff and volunteers are very kind and helpful. There is a tradition among Paralympians to exchange the badges of their countries, I started doing it too, it’s very fun.

I trained in the training pool, but I have already seen the main pool. It turned out to be short for me, which, they say, is a good sign. On Wednesday, I will be able to try the large pool, there will be a training session there. I’m looking forward to the competition as well, I want to feel that atmosphere with the spectators”, G. Čepavičiūtė shared her impressions.

On Wednesday evening, G. Čepavičiūtė and D. Dundzys will carry the Lithuanian Tricolor during the opening ceremony of the Games, which will take place in the heart of Paris – on the Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Élysées.

“It will be a great honor to represent Lithuania and carry its flag during the opening. And after that, the start is waiting. Today I had a training session in the gym with the team doctor Kęstuis Linkus. We stretched, we did various exercises, I feel good and I hope everything will be fine,” said D. Dundzys, a light athlete participating in the Paralympic Games for the second time.
