The tragic accident happened in the Lakkos area of Litochoro and the unfortunate woman was sitting with her family in an outdoor cafe when the big branch of the tree suddenly fell.

There was a lot of fun at the scene and eyewitnesses report that miraculously there were no other victims since the two shops at the scene were full of people.
The owner was arrested
The incident happened, according to EL.AS., yesterday around 10 pm. The 44-year-old (resident) was taken to the local Health Centre, but doctors pronounced her dead.
The Police arrested the owner of the shop, but he was later released with a verbal order from the prosecutor.
The Dion Olympos Police Department is conducting a preliminary investigation.
Ten people picked up the branch
The images from the scene of the tragedy are calm and show the extent of the branch that was severed from the huge tree as well as the broken table seats.
In fact, according to eyewitnesses, it took ten people to move the heavy branch to free the poor woman who lost consciousness.
An EKAB ambulance rushed to the scene, attempts were made to bring the woman back to the scene without success and she was taken to the health center where she was pronounced dead.
According to information, the woman was sitting at the table with her husband who is in the army and serves the area and her niece.
This morning, the police and staff from the Forest Service inspected the scene. As it was established, there is no disease on the big sycamore that would justify the fall of the branch and apparently it was a random event that spared the life of the unfortunate woman.
