Live Fado Unfolds: ‘Em Casa d’Amália’ to Showcase Elvas Talent on RTP1The program “At Home with Amália,” recorded live in Praça da República in Elvas on the night of August 27, will be broadcast this Saturday, September 14, on RTP1, starting at 10:45 PM.

The host, the fado singer from Estremoz, José Gonçalez, who claims he did not expect an “extraordinary response” from the audience for these live recordings, assured that he felt “at home” in Elvas. “I know Elvas very well because I spent a large part of my youth here, and later in my adult life, I held many events in the Coliseum and was often in charge of the artistic part of São Mateus,” he recalls.

José Gonçalez emphasizes that this is, above all, a “true project,” and what happened in Praça da República in Elvas is precisely what people will be able to see on television. “Then there’s another aspect, which seems to me to be an important trump card, which is for people to understand that artists are ordinary people. This is a project that shows artists in their true human dimension,” he further states.

It is worth noting that this program, recorded in Elvas, featured performances by António Zambujo, Buba Espinho, and Luís Trigacheiro, along with musicians Bruno Chaveiro on Portuguese guitar and Mapi on piano.

During the recording, there was also time for Elvas fado singers Soraia Branco, Toy Faria, and Vasco Gamelas to each perform a piece.
