At the end of lap 31, Norris changed tires and put on hard tires to get to the finish. He came out fifth, six seconds behind Verstappen. Leclerc takes the lead again.

With DRS and new tyres, Leclerc leaves Piastri on lap 31. He is now second and sets off in pursuit of Norris.

With new tires Leclerc pounces on Piastri and will be able to attack him while Norris has a five-second advantage over the two riders.

While Magnussen stopped at the end of lap 17, Gasly followed suit on the next lap but the stop lasted more than six seconds and he came out 16th, more than 3 seconds behind Magnussen. Bad operation for the Habs.

Sergio Perez moved up to 7th place after his overtaking of Tsunoda while Russell is now 11th after his overtaking of Alonso.

As in a dream, Leclerc’s departure. 4th on the grid, the Monegasque came out of the first corner first and pushed Verstappen back by more than a second.

Sainz pushes Verstappen wide
It’s hot at first. Leclerc escapes and Sainz attacks Verstappen at the end of sector 2. The Dutchman defends and is sent wide by the Spaniard who passes but lets the championship leader pass again.

The love at first sight came on Saturday in Q1, where Lewis Hamilton was eliminated. The Mercedes driver will start 17th, therefore very far away, but things are no better for George Russell. The Briton was in Q3 but at the end of the session he crashed his car in the final sector. He will leave the pits later. It’s tough for Mercedes at the moment.

Great performance by Gasly
The Frenchman benefits from the improvements made by Alpine in Austin and Pierre Gasly did well on Saturday. Only 14th in the sprint, the Norman managed to get into Q3, which is rare this season, and set the 7th best time in qualifying. With Russell’s problems, Gasly will soon start even sixth. A superb opportunity.

Pole for Norris ahead of Verstappen
After the sprint, Lando Norris took pole ahead of Max Verstappen. The Briton was helped by George Russell, who crashed into the wall in Q3 and caused the red flag to be shown, as the Dutchman was doing a much better lap than the McLaren driver.
The two find themselves on the front row for the sixth time this season as Norris takes his seventh career pole. Behind the two rivals for the world title, the Ferraris of Sainz and Leclerc follow with Piastri 5th while Perez is 9th on the grid.

The sprint for Verstappen
The Batavian returned to victory on Saturday in Texas by winning the sprint, for the fourth time this season, after Friday’s pole. The Dutchman beat Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Lando Norris (McLaren). Max Verstappen’s first victory since July and the sprint in Austria. An eternity.
