A little girl born today in France has a one in two chance of becoming a centenarian. Currently, life expectancy is 79.4 years for men and 85.3 years for women. Admittedly, with the Covid-19 pandemic, major flu epidemics and episodes of heat waves, progress in this area has been less rapid. But the battle for longevity does not consist in playing the extensions up to 150 years even if a Russian study, published in the journal Nature Communications, claims that we could one day reach this canonical age.
