With their backs against the wall, the Israeli team is currently hosting the Swedish team as part of the 10th round of the MundoBasket qualifiers. The team must win in order to maintain the chance of qualifying for the prestigious tournament.

Guy Goodes’ team had a difficult summer, in which they were disappointingly eliminated from the Eurobasket tournament already in the group stage and in addition lost all three of their games in the qualifiers. In the previous game, the national team lost at home 75:62 to Slovenia.

The two national teams already met this summer, when Sweden beat Israel 83:95 in a game that took place in Tel Aviv. Even a victory will not necessarily help the boys in blue and white to qualify for the World Championship, to which the team has not advanced since 1986.

First quarter:

Sweden national team five: Denzel Anderson, Tobias Borg, Ludwig Hakanson, Victor Gadfors and Simon Birgander.

The quintet of the Israeli national team: Yeftah Ziv, Bar Timur, Rafi Manko, Tomer Ginat and Idan Zalmanson.

The opening was all for the hosts, while Israel looked very bad. Woodwig the Canson had a fire with 9 personal points in the first five minutes that led to a 4:13 lead and a Guy Goodes timeout. Rafi Manko sniped an important three-pointer, Nimrod Levy added another one in transition and the difference instantly dropped to 13:10.
