Specifically, the well-known journalist, during a discussion with TikToker Dimitris Savvidis about the rising prices in the Greek market and the related research he is conducting on social media, felt insulted by the guest’s remarks, resulting in him requesting the live connection to be cut off.
“With all due respect and courage, in Greece nothing will change as long as you journalists, those with the power and ability, do not expose the politicians who manipulate according to the interests that serve them.
Mr. Ypofantis, in 2019 you were on another channel and you did combative journalism, criticizing the then government.
However, from 2019 to 2022 you remained at the same channel and did not provide the same criticism,” noted Dimitris Savvidis at first.
“What didn’t we do? You have no idea if we provided the same criticism or not. Now you are speaking with me! Now I will respond!” Nikos Ypofantis hastened to comment, clearly annoyed.
“Listen! We had two years of a pandemic. We didn’t know if we would be able to go out of the house. Do you believe that during these two years we were unaware of what was happening in the market?
Do you know that fuel prices have dropped to zero? Don’t play smart with me!” the journalist added in high tones.
“Because you made the issue personal… we had two years of a pandemic, which Europe and the entire world lost millions of people,” Nikos Ypofantis wanted to say next, however, he could not contain his annoyance and interrupted the connection with the guest.
“Thank you very much, you’re leaving, goodbye! What is the gentleman saying?” said Nikos Ypofantis.
