The fourth round of the Champions League was closed today (Wednesday), with a flood of goals when Liverpool abused the Rangers with 1:7, Mohamed Salah came on as a substitute and completed the fastest hat trick in the Champions League in just six minutes. One half was enough for Bayern Munich to beat Viktoria Plzen 2:4 and advance to the next stage. Tottenham won 2:3 against Frankfurt, Marseille beat Sporting 0:2 and Porto lost 0:3 against Bayer Leverkusen.
Rangers – Liverpool 7:1
Jurgen Klopp’s men recovered from the last league loss 3:2 to Arsenal and took out all the frustration on the unfortunate Scots. Mohamed Salah entered as a substitute and scored a huge hat-trick when he was on the field for 13 minutes. The Reds will probably advance to the round of 16 as they are placed second in Group A and hope to take the ability from the Champions League to the league as well when they meet Manchester City in the next round for a battle of giants.
The team from the Scottish capital did score the first goal of the factory and took the lead in the game, but also suffered the biggest loss in the Champions League when they completely fell apart in the second half. In the next round of the Champions League, they will meet the strong Napoli and try to recover from the heavy defeat.
17th minute, a goal! Rangers went up to 0:1: Scott Arfield received the ball inside the box and kicked weakly, but accurately to the left corner and stunned Klopp’s team.
24th minute, a goal! Liverpool drew 1:1: A corner kick into the short corner found the head of Firmino who brought the Reds back into the game.
55th minute, a goal! Liverpool went up to 1:2: Gomez broke through on the right wing and passed a cross to Firmino, the striker with a soft touch completed a brace and turned the score around.
66th minute, a goal! Liverpool went up to 1:3: A poor clearance by the Scottish defense as Firmino eventually back-heels the ball to Nunez, the striker kicking a touch into the far corner.
76th minute, a goal! Liverpool went up to 1:4: A poor clearance by the Scottish defence, the ball eventually reached Mohamed Saleh who took control well and kicked into the left corner.
80th minute, a goal! Liverpool went up to 1:5: An exchange of passes between Saleh and Diego Jota at the end of which the Egyptian applied with a beautiful goal from the edge of the area when he kicked to the right corner.
82nd minute, a goal! Liverpool went up to 1:6: Salah came on as a substitute and completed for the goalkeeper. A nice move by Liverpool’s attack when Salah ended up with an accurate kick from 16.
87th minute, a goal! Liverpool went up to 1:7: Jurgen Klopp’s apprentices show no mercy, Mohamed Salah sent in a cross, Elliot scored the seventh from close range.
Viktoria Plzen – Bayern Munich 4:2
One half was enough for Julian Naglesman’s apprentices to beat the Czech champions and advance to the next stage from third place. All four of the Bavarians’ goals were scored in the first half due to many holes in the weak Czech defense. The Germans will return to concentrate on the local arena where they are in third place and they will meet Freiburg for the top battle. In the second half, Bayern went a little backwards and Plzen did everything to get back into the game, but was unable to erase the deficit and is still winless in the factory. In the next round, the Czechs will meet Inter hoping to take the first three points.
Minute 10, a goal! Bayern Munich went up to 0:1: A great double pass between Goretzka and Sadio Mane on the square of 16 when in the end the winger entered the square and from close range gave the advantage.
Minute 14, a goal! Bayern Munich went up to 0:2: Koeman received the ball alone on the left wing and with one touch passed a cross into the center of the box, Müller reached the ball and scored the second from close range.
25th minute, a goal! Bayern Munich went up to 0:3: Thomas Müller found Goretzka in the box, the midfielder scored with a beautiful shot to the right corner. The Bavarians celebrate against Plzen.
Minute 35, a goal! Bayern Munich went up to 0:4: Leroy Sane sent an excellent pass to Leon Goretzka, the midfielder scored from the box and completed a double.
62nd minute, a goal! Victoria Pelzan shrunk to 4:1: Adam Vacanova took advantage of a bad clearance by the Bayern Munich defense and with one touch kicked a bomb into the left corner.
75th minute, a goal! Plzen shrunk to 4:2: A nice team move by Plzen when at the end Jan Kliment received the ball in the box and kicked while turning a nice goal.
Tottenham – Frankfurt 2:3
Everything is open in house D. Antonio Conte’s men scored an important victory tonight with a lot of character when they came back from behind against the Germans. The English have risen to the top of the house, with Marseille and Sporting hot after them and in the next round they will host the Portuguese in an important match for promotion. On the other hand, Frankfurt is in last place at home, but there is still a theoretical chance and it will try to beat Marseille in the next round in the Champions League.
One minute, 14 goals! Frankfurt went up to 0:1: Sebastian Roda passed to Daichi Kamada as he coolly gave the Germans the lead with a kick from outside the box.
Minute 20, a goal! Tottenham equalized 1:1: Harry Kane found Son on the edge of the box, the striker kicked hard into the bottom right corner and tied the score.
28th minute, a goal! Tottenham went up to 1:2: Harry Kane approached to kick from the penalty spot, the striker did not get confused and reversed the result.
36th minute, a goal! Tottenham went up to 1:3: Son completed a brace when he kicked a ball into the upper right corner and left no chance for the Frankfurt defense.
87th minute, a goal! Frankfurt narrowed to 3:2: Mario Gotze received the ball on the wing and lifted a ball to the center of the box, Farid Alido rose high and brought the Germans back into the game.
Sporting Lisbon – Marseille 2:0
The Portuguese lost the leadership of the house after two consecutive losses to the French who changed the picture in house D. The team from the capital of Portugal missed a significant opportunity to get closer to the round of 16. On the other hand, Marseille climbed from last place to second place at home with the same points as Sporting and in the next round both teams will have to win to stay in the fight for promotion until the end.
Minute 20, a goal! Marseille went up to 0:1: Matteo Ganduzi stepped up to kick a penalty kick from 11 meters, the midfielder kicked hard into the strong corner and gave the advantage to the French
Minute 30, a goal! Marseille went up to 0:2: Amin Harit gave an excellent pass into the box, Alexis Sanchez got to the ball and from close range doubled the advantage.
Bayer Leverkusen – Porto 3:0
Sergin Consanção’s men climbed to second place in Group B with an easy victory over Xavi Alonso’s team. The Portuguese will play their most important game in the next round, when they will meet Atletico Madrid in a direct battle for second place and the winner of the game will take a significant step to the next stage of the factory. On the other hand, the Germans are in last place at home with only three points with low chances of qualifying, in the local arena Alonso’s team will meet Frankfurt and try to continue on the new path with the coach.
Minute 7, a goal! Porto went up to 0:1: A long ball from the goalkeeper, Diego Costa, found Galeno, who took great control, the striker burst from the left wing into the box and gave a quick advantage to the Portuguese.
