by time news

Liverpool had an easy task at “Anfield” against Bournemouth, within the framework of the 5th matchday of the Premier League.

The “Reds” triumphed 3-0 and caught up with Manchester City at the top of the standings, awaiting tomorrow’s (22/9) derby of the champions against Arsenal.

THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE LIVERPOOL-BOURNEMOUTH MATCH

Arne Slot’s team, with Kostas Tsimikas again sitting on the bench, looked set to score very early (as happened in the Champions League match against Milan), but Semenyo’s goal was disallowed by VAR for offside just 4 minutes in. Luis Díaz “struck” twice within three minutes and Darwin Núñez “sealed” the match before halftime concluded.

Also tied for first place with Liverpool and City is Aston Villa, which won 3-1 in a comeback at “Villa Park” against Wolves.

Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 25′ for the “Wolves,” who held the lead until the last 20 minutes. However, it was the… usual suspect, Ollie Watkins, who equalized in the 73′, and Konsa brought the hosts ahead in the 89′, sealing the victory with Duran in stoppage time.

THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ASTON VILLA-WOLVES MATCH

At “Craven Cottage,” Newcastle’s unbeaten run was halted as they lost 3-1 to Fulham, missing the chance to be temporarily at the top alone. The hosts surprised the “Magpies” and took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Jimenez and Smith Rowe, also hitting the post. Newcastle reduced the deficit at the start of the second half with Barnes, but could not do more, and Nelson secured the win for the “Cottagers” in stoppage time.

Although Tottenham found themselves trailing from a goal by Bamo just one minute in, they triumphed 3-1 in London against Brentford, breathing a sigh of relief thanks to goals from Solanke, Johnson, and Maddison. Everton got off the absolute zero, but still remained in last place, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester, after initially taking the lead. In the newly-promoted teams’ derby, Southampton came close to their first victory but were equalized at 95′ by Ipswich.
